Abstract
High-impact Standards, such as those on safety-related systems and processes, deeply influence the products developing activities and their environment. Then not only it is desirable that such Standards be technically flawless and complete, but also that they can be easily understood and applicable for conformancy demonstration by all the stakeholders, including end-users. This suggests that Standards themselves should be conformant to some quality requirements that at the state of art are not well defined yet. The speech examines both the risks of not achieving these expectations and some mitigation strategies.
